ABOUT ME
Jjumba Martin
I am a Ugandan documentary and humanitarian photographer based in Kampala.
For over fifteen years, my work has focused on long-form visual communication across Africa, documenting how individuals and communities navigate inequality, displacement, and systemic crises. I am most drawn to stories that unfold slowly; the kind that require time and trust. My approach to each assignment centres on dignity, context, and human agency. I collaborate with NGOs and humanitarian organisations to create visual narratives for advocacy, fundraising, and social impact.
Alongside my documentary practice, I create commissioned editorial photography, spanning fashion, portraiture, and tailored visual assignments for businesses and organisations. Regardless of genre, my work is grounded in strong narrative framing and technical precision.
I also work as a video producer, leveraging my understanding of local contexts to identify the right talent and facilitate documentary projects from concept to delivery, ensuring local stories are told with depth, authenticity and insight.
I am self-represented and open to assignments in Uganda, across Africa, and internationally. Please reach out, let’s collaborate on bringing your next project to life.
