projects Kizza Besigye 2016

In 2016, I followed Dr. Besigye Kizza Kifeefe on one of his campaign trails in Kampala, from Kyambogo to Luzira. This man is widely regarded the most enduring fighter against President Yoweri Museveni’s rule of over 36 years.

He is a former colonel in the Ugandan army and in 2016, he was the presidential candidate for then Uganda’s most popular opposition party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

He was without a doubt the incumbent’s main challenger in those elections, in which he lost for the 4th time. He lost to Museveni 60.8% – 35.4% in an election that was marred by Intimidation and harassment of opposition by police and law enforcement bodies, as well as arrests of supporters and voters.
